Joe’s Pub hosts a rare New York celebration of the birthday of eccentric French composer Erik Satie, led by New York Times critics’ pick Anglo-Trinidadian jazz vocalist Tessa Souter. The evening features music from her internationally acclaimed album Shadows and Silence: The Erik Satie Project (2025, Noanara), which brings Satie’s haunting Gnossiennes and Gymnopédies vividly into the present through Souter’s original lyrics and bold new jazz arrangements by GRAMMY-winning pianist Luis Perdomo.
