Band Bio for Beledo:


"Beledo is considered a real myth among Uruguayan music connoisseurs," according to El Pais newspaper from Montevideo, Uruguay. Initially a pianist, Beledo became a guitar hero in his late teenage years, captivating audiences in Uruguay and Argentina. Attending the University School of Music in Uruguay, he not only performed classical music recitals, but was a founding member of the first Jazz Ensemble, sponsored by the conservatory in an effort to integrate jazz into the traditional curriculum. Later on, his fusion efforts of the early 80's in South America were noticed in the USA by both GUITAR PLAYER and JAZZIZ magazines. Since then, Beledo has performed and recorded all over the world with greats like Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Joe Locke, John Benitez, Stefon Harris, Randy Brecker, Thierry Arpino and Bakithi Kumalo. His latest project, 'The Avengers' features fusion pioneers Adam Holzman, Lincoln Goines and Kim Plainfield. Stratosphere, also featuring Plainfield, will explore some of the Avengers' repertoire as well as music from earlier recording projects.

Simply put, Evil Giraffes on Mars are the best (or worst) band that you (or someone else) have ever heard (or not heard). But they are a band nonetheless, and audiences have even been know to describe them as "awesome" from time to time. Let it be known, now and forever, that accolades like this are always completely unprovoked, though they are often in lieu of monetary compensation. Regardless, EGOM is known in small and medium sized circles for their genre bending sensibilities, fueled by a deep respect for all things musical. Combining elements of jazz, rock, funk, punk, hip hop, classical, world beat, and a love of tasty sandwiches, they have created a new beast! An Evil Giraffe! Lock your doors, hide your daughters and finish your cold cuts!
