German-born bassist Iris Ornig's approach to jazz is straightforward combining inventive wistful melodies. Her music is powdery soft and loaded with fresh energy and cat-like exuberance. Ornig has a spiritual sensibility and her pulse-like bass drives home shrewd originals and cagey hypnotic harmonies. Featuring Mike Rodriguez on trumpet, Randy Ingram on Fender Rhodes and Chris Benham on drums.
