The album is a collection of Furlan’s compositions inspired by modern literature, musicians he admires, and his family members. “Return To The Be-Bop Tango” combines the influence of Chick Corea & Frank Zappa, “The Ice Committee” was influenced by a short story by David Means,“The Raconteur”is a tribute to the music of Gentle Giant, “The Crawl Too” was written with memories of his infant daughter, and “Mrs. Clean Freak” is dedicated to his mom. “Time’s Arrow,” “Twisted River,” and “Perfidia” were inspired by works of fiction written by Martin Amis, John Irving, and James Ellroy, respectively. Seven of the compositions/arrangements were written in the last few years with two exceptions — “The Crawl Too” (on Spy Glass Hill) and “Time’s Arrow” (on Between The Lines) — but the arrangements for both of these are new.
