UAM Jazz Faculty, Alumni, and Friends at Monday Jazz at Afterthought Bistro and Bar

The Afterthought's Monday Jazz Night on 30 September 2013 features six of Arkansas's accomplished jazz musicians: saxophonists Matt Schatz, Gary Meggs, Timothy Woods; guitarist Les Pack; bassist Stuart Coles; percussionist Claude Askew. (Several of these artists were featured earlier this month at the 22nd Annual Hot Springs JazzFest and/or are associated with the jazz camp/jazz studies program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.)

The Afterthought's Monday Jazz Night on 30 September 2013 features six of Arkansas's accomplished jazz musicians: saxophonists Matt Schatz, Gary Meggs, Timothy Woods; guitarist Les Pack; bassist Stuart Coles; percussionist Claude Askew. (Several of these artists were featured earlier this month at the 22nd Annual Hot Springs JazzFest and/or are associated with the jazz camp/jazz studies program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.)

The Afterthought (in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood) is the only Little Rock venue which has presented live jazz continuously (at least once a week) since the 1970s. The club and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) which served as the town hall for Pulaski Heights before its annexation by Little Rock in 1916. The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation/Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame holds its weekly meet-and-greet during Monday Jazz Night at the club, which attracts a diverse, multigenerational audience of jazz aficionados. On 30 September 2013 (6-7:30 pm), the AJHF's executive board will hold its quarterly dinner meeting in one of The Afterthought's private dining rooms in order to enjoy Monday Jazz after adjournment.
