Awarded at the 23rd annual San Diego Music Awards (SDMA) as Artist of the Year, Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz, 2013; Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos was recognized by Downbeat Magazine as a 'New American Master’.

His Latino background via Cuba and Mexico City helped build his musical credentials and opportunities to work with world-renowned artists that include Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Hayden, Les McCann, Poncho Sanchez, Diana Krall, Willie Nelson, Michael Buble, Natalie Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Branford Marsalis, Dr. John, Charles McPherson, Liza Minnelli, and many others.
