Over two decades, the trio has developed a remarkably cohesive sound and achieved wide international recognition, particularly in Japan, where they have completed several concert hall tours and performed at events such as the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Haavisto’s compositions balance beautiful melodies, expansive structures, and freer passages, drawing influences not only from jazz tradition but also from classical music and hip-hop. Their distinctive approach to the classic jazz trio format combines confident simplicity with the freshness of Scandinavian jazz, where interaction between the musicians plays a vital role.

Joonas Haavisto Trio juhlistaa 20-vuotista taivaltaan uudella ohjelmistolla, joka kokoaa yhteen Haaviston sävellyksiä yhtyeen viideltä albumilta. Pianisti Joonas Haaviston rinnalla soittavat kontrabasisti Antti Lötjönen ja rum­pali Joonas Riippa.
Kahden vuosikymmenen aikana saumatto­maksi hioutunut trio on saavuttanut laajaa kansainvälistä suosiota erityisesti Japanissa, missä se on tehnyt useita konserttisalikier­tueita ja esiintynyt muun muassa Tokio Jazz Festivaalilla. Kesäkuussa 2022 trio teki en­simmäisen Yhdysvaltain kiertueensa, esiin­tyen legendaarisella Blue Note Jazz Clubilla New Yorkissa sekä DC Jazz Festivaalilla Wa­shingtonissa ja Rochester International Jazz Festivaalilla.
Haaviston sävellyksissä kauniit melodiat, pit­kät kaaret ja vapaammat jaksot tasapainotta­vat toisiaan ja vaikutteita on kuultavissa jazzperinteen lisäksi niin klassisesta musii­kista kuin hiphopistakin. Muodoltaan perintei­sen jazztrion omaperäinen lähestymistapa yhdistyy itsevarmaan ja konstailemattomaan tyyliin sekä skandinaavisen jazzin raikkau­teen, jossa muusikoiden välisellä vuorovaiku­tuksella on iso merkitys.
