"I have always been fascinated by Evans' style, which combines a refined touch, rich harmonic usage, minimalist interpretation, and, especially, interactive ensemble playing. I feel a kindred spirit in many ways with his expression, and it is exceptionally interesting to explore how a couple of my own compositions communicate with each other in the midst of Evans' repertoire during the Jazz Jkl Collective performances," explains Aki Rissanen.

Jazz Jkl Collectiven helmikuun klubien solistivieraana taituroi ilmiömäinen, hienoa kansainvälistä uraa tekevää pianisti Aki Rissanen. Luvassa on jazzpianon suuren lyyrisen innovaattorin, Bill Evansin musiikkia sekä Rissasen omia sävellyksiä.
Bill Evansin (1929–1980) persoonallinen soittotyyli on vaikuttanut jazzpianisteihin jo usean sukupolven ajan. Uransa aikana monien merkittävien jazzmuusikoiden kanssa levyttänyt ja soittanut pianisti oli mukana mm. Miles Davisin Kind of Blue -klassikkoalbumilla. Varsinaisen kädenjälkensä jazzmusiikin historiaan Evans jätti kuitenkin oman pianotrionsa jazztandarditulkinnoilla ja syvällisyyttä henkivillä sävellyksillään.
"Minua on aina viehättänyt Evansin tyyli, jossa yhdistyvät hienostunut kosketus, rikas harmonian käyttö, minimalistinen tulkinta ja erityisesti interaktiivinen yhtyesoitto. Koen monella tapaa hengenheimolaisuutta hänen ilmaisunsa kanssa, ja Jazz Jkl Collectiven keikoilla onkin erinomaisen mielenkiintoista tutkia, kuinka pari omaa kappalettani Evansin tuotannon lomassa kommunikoivat keskenään", Aki Rissanen kertoo.
