On Friday, February 27th, Fiesta Sunset Jazz will celebrate the country's Independence Day New Orleans-style when the Eric Litman Trio takes the stage for a special concert: Mardi Gras in Santo Domingo!

Mardi Gras is celebrated in New Orleans for approximately two weeks before and during Shrove Tuesday, which is the day before Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent in the Western Christian tradition). Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in French; the city is filled with dances, parades, and costumes during this time. The music that reigns supreme is Jazz, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Swing, and Zydeco....

Eric on saxophones and his good friends Iván Carbuccia and Bryan Paniagua on guitar and drums have prepared an excellent Mardi Gras-themed repertoire, which will include songs such as: Second Line, When the Saints Go Marching In, Royal Garden Blues, Basin Street Blues, Blueberry Hill; among others. Plus Eric's original composition, "El Schmucko."
