In 2018, Cologne pianist Simon Nabatov formed a new „Cologne Quartet“ with Sebastian Gille (saxophones), David Helm (double bass) and Leif Berger (drums). All band members are part of the lively & creative Cologne scene, which has visibly flourished in recent decades. In the meantime Dominik Mahnig plays the drums.
 Although the quartet could only play a few gigs before the Covid-19 pandemic temporarily stopped all further plans, the quality of the band was undisputed from the beginning. The group plays Nabatov’s compositions, some more than 20 years old, but most of the pieces are conceived especially for this band.
