Despite its small size, with only a hundred seats, it’s a big venue on Berlin’s jazz scene. From Herbie Hancock and Ray Brown to Diana Krall, Wynton Marsalis and Till Brönner – they all love playing the A-Trane. Every Saturday after midnight the musicians improvise at the now-legendary jam sessions.
The name A-Trane is a nod to “Trane”, the nickname of jazz saxophonist John Coltrane, and Duke Ellington’s signature tune “Take the A Train”.
